South Korea to deploy troops to hospitals

South Korea announced that it will deploy 20 military surgeons and 138 military general practitioners to 20 hospitals.

Following the South Korean government's medical reform plan, 12,000 trainee doctors who were serving in 100 hospitals went on strike.

The country's defense minister said that the military doctors who were called to serve in medical facilities are some of the 2,400 that South Korea has, Al Jazeera read.

Due to the trainee doctors going on strike, patients lost medical services. The country's health system has also been distorted; the report added.
