Farmers in Oromia region East Shewa zone Dugda wereda have told reporters that they have been forced to change their tomato and vegetable fields to summer irrigation wheat.

In this case, they said that there is a decline in prices due to the lack of supply of vegetables and fruits. They said that there is an unexpected rain that has hit the roof of tomatoes and it is because we are forced to plant winter wheat.

The farmers who reported that the production of fruits and vegetables has been banned in Meki, Dugda district have told the reporter that the plants have been removed from them and also imprisoned.

According to the farmers, if equal attention was given to wheat and other products in the woreda, the price hike would not have happened.

The Oromia regional agriculture bureau has responded that wheat has not affected other products unless it is natural.
