It has been suggested that the Ethiopian government has signed a contract with a company called Madras security printers to collect biomedical data that can produce one million digital ID cards.
Africa Intelligence reported that the India based company has won a 300,000-dollar tender to produce digital ID cards for Ethiopia out of 10 bidders.
It is said that the agreement is to collect information that can verify the information of citizens who wear digital ID cards.
It is reported that more than 1.4 million citizens have registered for the national digital ID card in Ethiopia.
