Amnesty International announced in a report released today that the security forces of the government are killing innocent citizens without trial in the Amhara region.
The report also stated that the citizens whose families were killed were not allowed to pick up the bodies and bury them.
It was said that the civilians were killed because they were supporting the armed forces.
In addition, it has been pointed out that the state of emergency in the Amhara region, internet shutdowns and restrictions on communication methods in some areas have restricted freedom of speech and are making the humanitarian violations worse.
Amnesty International's Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Director, Tiger Chagutah, has asked the government to allow an independent investigation into the humanitarian violence that is taking place in the Amhara region.
