Coffee suppliers announced that they were forced to leave the market because they were not paid properly when they supplied their coffee to exporters.
The suppliers said this at a forum where the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority together with the Ministry of Agriculture held a discussion with farmers and coffee suppliers.
Most of the coffee suppliers seized their property and sold it to coffee exporters after buying coffee from the farmers. The exporters said, "The coffee you sold to us does not meet the standards set by the coffee and tea authority" and harassed them throughout the year with their money.
The reporter reported that the suppliers said that they were forced to sell their coffee at a loss because they did not get proper loans from the bank due to the fact that the government often gave the story only to the exporters.
