The Ministry of Health has announced that no one has yet been infected with monkeypox in Ethiopia.
The minister said that the disease, which is spreading in various African countries, has not yet entered Ethiopia.
He announced that surveillance and precautionary measures are being carried out at Bole International Airport regarding people coming from countries where there are people infected with the disease.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Megdes Daba, indicated that preparations are being made since 2022, when the World Health Organization declared the disease a threat. He said that precautionary measures are still being taken in the eight border areas where we have contact with neighboring countries.
It is also said that talks have been started with countries that produce vaccines by taking lessons from the Covid-19 epidemic.
